Climate change is one of the major social challenges of our time. To reduce global warming and the expected consequences, greenhouse gas emissions must be drastically reduced. Buildings account for up to 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions, mainly through the use of fossil fuels such as oil and gas. A change in our energy systems from fossil to renewable energies is necessary. In its energy strategy 2050, the Swiss Confederation is therefore focusing on a strongly increasing share of electricity generated from renewable energy sources. The focus here is on the use of solar energy, a decentralized and renewable energy source. The major challenge is the architectural integration of solar technology into the building envelope.
44 Masterstudents phased this challenge and submitted their proposals.
