Urban planning is a big challenge. It was the task to develop a city down to each single building by analyzing first various different cities, their qualities, strengths and identities. 
In order to integrate quality and variety into the morphology of a city, one has to refer not only to social, but also topographic and climatic factors. High population density and rough climatic conditions resulted in my city layout. The examination of the microclimate of Cairo and its building culture sharpen the view on the forces which caused the todays city structure.
